The Season 4 update for Overwatch 2 was well-received by the community, introducing Lifeweaver as a new Support hero and implementing requested changes to Competitive mode.
But Blizzard doesn’t like to keep players waiting for long, and Season 5 is set to arrive in-game very soon.

Overwatch 2 Season 5 start date
Overwatch 2 Season 5 is expected to begin on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, following the same schedule as previous seasons. Each season in Overwatch 2 has lasted exactly nine weeks, and with Season 4 starting on April 11, this date is the most likely.
However, the official confirmation from Blizzard is still pending, so the start date of Season 5 may change if more time is needed for preparation.
Will there be a new hero in Overwatch 2 Season 5?
In Season 5 of Overwatch 2, there will not be a new hero added following the introduction of Lifeweaver in Season 4. It was confirmed by the developers back in Season 2 that heroes will be introduced in alternate seasons, which means players will have to wait for Overwatch Season 6 to see a new hero join the roster. Blizzard’s roadmap indicates a new Support hero for Season 6, followed by a Tank hero in Season 7.
Overwatch 2 Season 5 new map
Although there won’t be a new hero in Overwatch 2 Season 5, this opens the possibility for a fresh map to be added to the rotation. Maps are released in alternating seasons, so players can expect the first new map since Season 3’s Antarctic Peninsula with this update.
Blizzard will likely provide more details about the new map closer to the release of Season 5, and we’ll update this section as soon as they’re announced.
Overwatch 2 Season 5 in-game events
The Overwatch 2 roadmap for 2023 anticipates multiple events in Season 5. While no official details are available yet, players can expect a new limited-time event along with another event called ‘Mischief & Magic.’ This will likely bring fantasy-themed skins for different heroes, although specifics have not been revealed.
In addition, the Summer Games event will make its debut in Overwatch 2. If Blizzard follows tradition, it will include new skins and a limited-time mode for players to enjoy.
